You can trek through the seventy acre cardamom plantation under the shade of a variety of evergreen trees, most of which are 200-300 yrs old.
•Bird Watching:
Birds like black and orage flycatcher, Nilgiri pipit, Nilgiri wood pigeon, Kerala laughing thrush etc are found inside the plantation. A variety of butterflies can aslo be seen in the plantation.

Mesmerising Munnar
The tea-and-spice town of Munnar is one of the compelling attractions of Kerala, and was voted the second best tourism destination in Asia after Tokyo by TripAdvisor's 2010 Traveler's Choice Destination Awards. This holiday town in the Western Ghats soars 6,000 feet above the languid backwaters of Kerala and is overwhelmingly green. All roads in Munnar either wind along high-altitude shola forests, rolling slopes of tea plantations or large stretches of spice plantations.
There are about 30 tea plantations in and around Munnar. Tea bushes are planted along the land’s natural contours, and when you wedge yourself amidst them for a photograph, you appear as a barely noticeable blip on a green background. Tea pickers in colourful clothes and baskets on their backs are barely visible amidst the sea of tea plants; each person plucks as much as 25-30 kilograms of tea leaves per day. Four kilograms of green leaf make 1 kilogram of black tea that goes into the making of your morning cup.
The spice plantations are less dense and more fruit laden. Over 12 varieties of spices -- including ginger, garlic, cardamom, vanilla, pepper, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg -- are cultivated in and around Munnar. Guided visits to these plantations are absolutely fascinating; it’s delightful to see the spices that you use every day in their raw, natural form rather than bottled or packaged in plastic.
Whether it’s the tea and spice plantations, the lakes and waterfalls, the cattle breeding farms, or the sky-piercing Anamudi peak within the Eravikulam National Park, every part of Munnar accentuates its beauty. Munnar truly complements Kerala, a place that truly deserves its exalted title of ‘God’s Own Country’.

The most popular tourist destination in Kerala is Munnar, situated at the confluence of three mountain rivulets, at a height of 1600 metres. Camelot Resort Munnar

The Camelot Rock View Point, within the property, is just 150 metres up along a longer trekking route. From this point you can see 9 estate mountains: Kannimala, Rajamala, Kallar, Nallathanny, Nyamakad, Vagavarai, Silent Valley, Parvathy and Lekshmi. You can also clearly see Anamudi the highest peak south of the Himalayas.
The Camelot Trekking Pinnacle, a special trekking spot up 1000 metres, above the property, can be reached after 4 hours of arduous climb. But the effort is worth, if the climate is favourable, as the viewpoint will give you a birds-eye view of the high ranges all around, and even a distant view of Kochi city, the 'Queen of the Arabian Sea'. For the long trek to the Camelot Trekking Pinnacle and for jungle safaris, necessary accessories and medicines will be supplied.
The resort has its own micro hydroelectric power source and water supply. The natural clear mineral water collected from a perennial stream, filtered and supplied hygienically is safe and tasty. Bottled mineral water is also bought in sufficient quantities and stocked. You will experience solitary seclusion that will revitalize you for years to come.

Camp Noel is a secluded mountain resort nestled in the high ranges of the western ghats in the Idukki district of Kerala.
It is 36 kms away from Munnar town near the village of Pazhathottam. It
takes about 90 minutes on average to reach the resort from Munnar town. The first 30 kms is a very scenic drive on the Kodaikkanal highway via Mattuppetti and Kundale Dam. The last 6 kms to the resort is very bumpy and rough through a forest track, there are no roads to speak of!

Magic of Mountain Gods
The vast plantation visible from your balcony is Pallivasal Tea Estate, the largest of 22 tea estates in Munnar. The valley is almost like a big basin and your cottage is on the edge of it. A gap in the far west end permits mist to flow-in and wind carries it like cotton. The mist, the wind, tricks of naughty tropical sun and the shadow of the mountain peaks create an ever changing cosmic experience known as The Magic of Mountain Gods.
Pinch of History
“Surprisingly grand and incomparably beautiful” General Douglas Hamilton noted down in his diary on his visit to Munnar in the year 1862. Duke of Wellington, Sir Arthur Wellesley was perhaps the first to visit Munnar from the “civilized” world in connection with his strategic move to defend Bristish India from Tipu Sultan in the year 1789. Adventurous planters from Scotland followed and experimented several crops including rubber, coffee, cinchona, camphor and sisal. Finally tea was found to be most suitable. The first tea was planted by Mr. A.H.Sharp in the year 1895. Cardamom, the king of spices was known to the world from ancient times, was a wild plant abundant in the tropical forests of Munnar. Adivasis (ethnic people) collected the hill produce and changed hands till it reached distance ports like Alexandria.
Biodiversity
When Blackberry Estate was taken over by a team of environmentalists, it was a neglected cardamom plantation thoroughly damaged by the so called modern farming techniques. During the last decade, organic farming was adopted and agricultural activity was limited to 25% of the total land. A simple grass called vetiver is extensively used for a multiple purposes including land stabilization, water purification, water conservation etc. You can learn the new technology of farming without causing sheet erosion in a slope in our agricultural farm.
You will be amazed by the variety of tropical plants and trees at Blackberry Estate. The message we try to pass from here is “co-existence of all plants, trees, insects and other creatures in a truly sustainable world”.
